Marc D. Shapiro, MD, is a brilliant neuroradiologist currently serving as the medical director and reading radiologist for a successful private office, Neuro Imaging Winter Park in Winter Park, Florida. Featuring extensive knowledge in all aspects of his field, Dr. Shapiro holds particular expertise in musculoskeletal MRI drawing on his orthopaedic training at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Shapiro is on a mission to bring the world’s best MRI technology to Central Florida, which he has successfully achieved with the Siemens Verio 32 Channel 3T MRI equipment. Dr. Shapiro trusts that this technology will enhance the provision of accurate diagnostic imaging of the same superior quality as that offered by some of the most prestigious academic centers in the world, such as Johns Hopkins, Massachusetts General Hospital, or the Mayo Clinic Hospitals. A sought-after speaker at preeminent national and international lectures on MRI, including the RSNA neuroradiology sessions (moderator, 2006-2011) and American Society of Neurology (speaker, 2008 and 2009) meetings, Marc D. Shapiro, MD, has been selected for the third consecutive year as one of only eight doctors in the world to speak at the 3rd annual international symposium on 3T whole body MRI. As a researcher, he was engaged in working with Siemens on setting new protocols for MRI that radiologists worldwide now use to better identify abnormalities. Dr. Marc D. Shapiro is also engaged in training already board-certified radiologists in the fellowship program of the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. Fellow radiologists spend three months of their fellowship program training under the tutelage of Dr. Shapiro. He is a Volunteer Associate Professor with the University. Also affiliated with University of Miami Hospital, he is the former chief of neuro MRI and ENT radiology at Yale University School of Medicine, author of 3T Spine Imaging published in 2006 by MRI Clinics of North America. Voted among America’s Top Radiologists since 2002, he was an invited lecturer on 3T MRI of the brain and spine at ISMRM in Berlin, Germany, in 2007.
